Site-specific project (performance, postcard, installazione di dimensioni variabili)
Miscellanea is a site specific project realized during the Identity In Motion Festival in Laives, Bolzano.
The body of the project is divided into three different processes: collection, conversion, and composition.
With a cart and two megaphones we entered the streets of the town, collecting objects that the inhabitants wanted to get rid of, or better still that they wanted to donate as proof of their participation in the project. After three days of collection we took the material to the gallery where through a symbolic rite of passage, we cleaned and re-signified each object creating thirteen different compositions inspired by the concept of the sacred altar. Following this ritual with the items cleaned of their original function, we made seventeen small sculptures creating new formal and conceptual relationships between the objects.
The thirteen altars were photographed and postcards were printed, these postcards were installed in a special totem display which members of the public were encouraged to take, this closing the gift circle.
Miscellanea is a landscape photograph. The inhabitants of Laives donated a small part of their reality to the artists to have it reworked and returned in a new form to the community. Among the collected gifts was a music box which amplified by the megaphones used during the performance of the object collection, provided the melody of the exhibition.
